Imphal, February 06 2014:
The minority welfare department of the United Minority and Students' Federation of North East (UMISFONE) on Wednesday said it has decided to boycott the proposed visit by BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to Manipur on February 8 .
"We condemned Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Manipur on February 8 and we have decided not to support it because he is the primary accused in the 2002 Gujarat riots case," Abung Mehtab, president, Education and Social Upliftment Department told a press conference at the press club here.
Minority department of UMISFONE has taken the firm decision to boycott the visit, and that it would further urge the Governor through a representation to prevent Modi from visiting the state where communal harmony is maintained well, he said.
Mehtab further called upon all to take part in the boycott call to ward off the BJP leader and accused him of being a leader who underestimates the minority groups in the country.
"Modi is coming to the state to fool all the people in the guise of a sage," he accused.
