Imphal, February 06 2014:
In the backdrop of boycott call given to the proposed visit of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from some quarters, United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has opined that political leaders from any political parties should be welcome if they have a plan to visit Manipur.
In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Secretary JM.Thadou, UKLF observed that we are in a democratic country and personal or party affiliation is one thing but objecting the coming of a particular political party for organizing a meeting is against the very spirit democracy.
So, the proposed visit of Narendra Modi, the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate to Imphal, should not be objected; rather it should be welcome by all.
At the time of election, everyone is free to cast his/her vote upon whom he or she favours.
But opposing the coming and holding meeting by a particular political leader is not a healthy action.
Instead of opposing, it should be taken an opportunity to highlight our plights to those who are visiting our state, UKLF said, while pointing out that Indian National Congress party has been in power at the centre for the last many years and if there can be a change of ruler this time it is to be welcomed and accepted as one particular party ruling for a long period is not good in a country like India.
