MACS staffs' strike enters 7th day

As the indefinite strike of Manipur State AIDS Control Employees Association (MACSEA) under the aegis of All India AIDS Control Employees Association, which was started from January 30 entered 8th day today, all services rendered by Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) with the exception to distribution of ARV drugs, have come to a complete halt in the State.
A sit-in-protest was staged at MACS Office, R & D Wing Lamphelpat yesterday during which opposition leader and secretary of Manipur Legislative Assembly forum on HIV/AIDS, Dr I Ibohanbi Singh visited and assured the employees that he will take up their issues on the floor of the Assembly as well as to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.
The MLA endorsed the demands of the employees as genuine and said that they deserve to get the same benefits that regular employees of the State and Centre are enjoying.
He also decried the alleged inaction of Deputy Directors, Project Director, MACS and Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Government of Manipur even though the strike has entered 7th day affecting all services supposed to be rendered by MACS.
