Imphal, February 06 2014:
Following the discovery of a woman's body hung to death in a bamboo grove, angry mob today dismantled the house of the woman's husband at Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai.
Reports culled from the spot said that morning walkers today came across a mutilated woman being hung in a bamboo grove along the bank of Thoubal river at Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai in Thoubal district.
Caught by surprise and panicking on finding one Sapam (N) Takhellambam (O) Binita alias Abema (18) wife of Takkhellambam Akash (20) being hung in the bamboo grove, the walkers returned to break the news to the localities.
At that juncture, Akash, the husband of Binita, took the body and lay on the road.
On closer inspection, the locals found an injury mark suspected to be caused with sharp object at the abdomen.
A team of police and forensic science lab experts conducted an investigation at the scene later.
A loin cloth (khudei) was found tied around her neck while the police also found blood stains at some spots of the road.
On further investigation, police also found a blood stained cloth of Binita, a machete and a dagger from the house of Akash.
The corpse was taken by the police after a formal inquest and deposited the same at JNIMS morgue.
Amidst strong suspicion on the conduct of Akash, angry mob displayed their wrath by dismantling the house of Akash when they found him and other family members absent in their house around noon today.
Akash and Binita tied the knot few years back.
The couple separated and Binita returned to her parental home not long ago when Akash reportedly eloped with another woman, the locals said.
A case has been registered with Thoubal PS and investigation is on.
