Imphal, February 06 2014:
People of Manipur would never forget the fire that razed the State Legislative Assembly Building and the death of 18 brave people in the aftermath of BJP-led NDA Government's decision to extend the Indo-NSCN (IM) cease fire agreement without territorial limits, said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
He was addressing a political convention organized by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai here today.
Gaikhangam further said that the Congress Party stands firmly to safeguard the territorial integrity of the State.
In fact, the non-Congress political parties are formed by the outcasts of the Congress Party.
Those defected politicians have no ideology or principle.
They keep on changing their colours for their own benefits and conveniences.
No other political party could do even a little bit of what the Congress has been doing for the people and the country, he asserted.
Deputy CM maintained that the Congress Government has been striving to bring transparency and accountability in governance through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Moreover, the Congress leaders are closely monitoring the implementation of various flagship programmes in every nook and corner of the country.
The opposition parties are indeed jealous of the success and development of the Congress, Gaikhangam added.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C RK Anand and other Congress leaders, who were present on the occasion, also slammed the BJP leaders and cautioned people against voting to BJP saying that their support to BJP would again put Manipur on fire.
