Tangkhul bodies urge Govt

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) and Tangkhul Shinao Long (TSL) have urged the State Govt to expedite construction work of the newly upgraded primary schools without delay.
In a joint statement, YS Yangmi Khapai, President of TKS; Ningkhan Shang, President of TMNL and AC Ringluiwon, President of TSL pointed out that the fund for construction work of the newly upgraded primary schools had already been released but no work has been taken up till date.
It has been found out that the chairman and the secretary of adhoc SMDC had illegally withdrawn crores of rupees meant for construction of classrooms and kitchens in respect of 10 primary schools falling under 44-Ukhrul A/C, the joint statement alleged, terming the act as 'robbery' and demanded fitting punishment be given against the erring officers, who not only tarnished the image of the department but also playing with the future of children.
The three tangkhul bodies further alleged that the secretary of adhoc SMDC, who is also the DPM, SSA, Ukhrul had deliberately attempted to misguide the public saying that the EGS centres had been abolished by the Govt.and that children in the EGS centres do not come under the purview of the SSA guidelines, hence, these children are not entitled to mid-day meal, free textbooks, etc.
Unfortunately, no disciplinary action has so far been initiated against the said officer by the authority concerned, they lamented.
Reiterating the appeal for speeding up the execution of the work in the larger interest of the community and punishment of the officers involved in illegal act immediately as per service rules, the three Tangkhul bodies categorically stated that they would remain relentless until their demands are met.
