Kanggui, February 06 2014:
A youth identified as A Shepao (28) of Makhrelui village in Senapati town was brutally beaten to death at the district headquarters on February 5 allegedly by NSCN-IM cadres.
The deceased youth originally hailed from Tungjoy village but was residing at Makhrelui.
According to sources, Shepao went to a shop to purchase a sandal with a friend.
The incident occurred after the two took a pair of sandal each from the shop belonging to one Nirala, a native of Bihar.
Later, Shepao was whisked away by suspected NSCM (IM) cadres and beaten to death, said the sources.
The body of the deceased was returned in the early hours of February 6 to his residence by some unidentified persons.
An agitated crowd gathered this morning to condemn the brutal killing of Shepao but was put on hold because of the ongoing 7th round tripartite talk in the town.
In late afternoon, the angry mob burnt goods in Nirala's shop who reportedly is accused of informing the NSCN cadres.
Meanwhile, the Makhrelui Village Youth strongly condemned the act of brutally murdering A Shepao and has demanded immediate booking of the culprits and their punishment as per the law of the land.
It has warned that, those responsible should clarify failing which it will be compelled to launch intense agitation.
