PFA rescues circus pigeons

PFA Thoubal today rescued four pigeons used by a non-local clown and a child to entertain spectators from Thoubal parking.
Four pigeons tightly confined in a small wooden box were found in their possession when the PFA team seized their possession and took the clowns �Alamudin Mansuri (52) from Uttar Pradesh and his assistant Salim Shah (9), his nephew, to its office, said a PFA statement.
The pigeons were used for a special item.
In the event, the magician flung a pigeon in the sky.
The pigeon rolled on the ground as if it was in a state of convulsion.
Meantime, the magician told his audiences that the condition of the pigeon was due to bad spirit.
He then took out a magic pendent and touch the pigeon.
The pigeon become normal.
He then sold the pendent for Rs 20 to 30 to the surprised spectators.
The birds were not similar to that of local ones.
Feather of its back side of its head raised up.
The magician told PFA that the pigeons were special pigeons bought from other magician of Assam at Rs 1500 to Rs 3000 per pair.
The convulsive character was with them when he bought.
The flight feather were cut off.
Performing magic tricks to entertain people is not a crime but using animals for such acts is punishable under Prevention of cruelty to animal act.
PFA will try to rehabilitate the pigeons after consulting experts, it said.
