ATSUM consultative meet continues; reaffirms boycott of 'Go to Hills'

A consultative meet held at Kangpokpi on Thursday under the aegis of ATSUM has decided to go ahead with the decision of ATSUM to boycott the Government's "Go to Hills 2.0"mission in Kangpokpi district.
The consultative meeting was attended by various civil society organizations including Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association Kangpokpi, Zillai Kangpokpi, Kangpokpi Town Committee and Kangpokpi Youth Union.
The meeting discussed the "HAC recommended Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021", and adopted various declarations.
It resolved that the Manipur State Government should convene a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to table the HAC recommended ADC Bill, 2021 .

Secondly, it resolved that the reason for the withdrawal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker's orders is declared 'unacceptable' as it is not based on the "Rules of Procedures and Conduct of Business" in the Manipur Legislative Assembly read writ Article 371(C) .
Thirdly, it resolved to endorse the decision of ATSUM to boycott "Go to Hills 2.0" and continue the boycott movement until the HAC recommended ADC Bill, 2021 is tabled and the Speaker's order is withdrawn with appropriate reason.
The meeting also decided to stage a sit-in protest on the proposed day at the venue in case the State Government attempted to go ahead with the 'Go to Hills 2.0' in Kangpokpi district.
The CSOs stated that all business establishments in the district shall be shut down on the proposed date of the programme if the Government goes ahead with its schedule and appealed to all transporters to stay away from the road on the day.
It may be recalled that as per the scheduled programme, the 'Go to Hill 2.0' was scheduled on September 25 for Kangpokpi district.
However, it has been reportedly rescheduled for September 29 .
