Imphal, September 24 2021:
A general discussion programme on the topic 'The Latest Development in Dhanamanjuri University (DMU)' was held at DM College of Science today.
The programme has been organised by Adhoc Committee of the constituent colleges of Dhanamanjuri University.
Speaking on the occasion, Co-convenor of the Adhoc Committee, Dr K Anthony appealed to the Government to initiate process to absorb the existing teachers at the earliest to enhance the development of DMU.
He requested not to start fresh recruitment process or to absorb teachers of other Government colleges until the absorption process of existing teachers is complete.
Talking about the notice issued by Directorate of Higher and Technical Education dated September 21 inviting applications from the teachers of 5 constituent colleges of DMU as well as other Government colleges in the State to join DMU, he said that the Adhoc Committee is not against the order however it may go against the long pending demands of the Committee.
Hence today's general discussion programme has been conducted to discuss the matter, he stated.
He continued that though Dhanamanjuri University started functioning as a university in April 2018 as per the Dhanamanjuri University Act 2017, the varsity has not been able to fulfil all the necessary requisites of a proper university.
Owing to it, DMU is unable to avail the benefits of many developmental schemes provided by UGC, he added.
