CPI leader Kunjo donates body to RIMS

CPI secretariat member and president of Manipur Loumee Marup L Kunjo passed away due to an ailment on Friday.
Meanwhile, his family members have donated his body to RIMS anatomy department as an act of honouring the wish of the deceased public leader.
Langpoklakpam Kunjo (91) of Khundrakpam Makha Leikai in Imphal East district died at his home on Friday due to an ailment.
While alive, he requested his family members to donate his body to RIMS for academic purpose and his family members carried out his wish by handing over the body to head of RIMS anatomy department professor Dr RK Ajita in the morning.
RIMS authority thanked and appreciated the family members and the later CPI leader for donating the body for academic purpose and prayed for the well-being of the family.
Meanwhile, CPI-M has expressed condolences over the death of the leader.
According to the party's state secretary Kshet'rimayum Shanta, Kunjo began his journey in the service of public as a communist by following the footsteps of Hijam Irawat.
He remained as president of Manipur Loumee Marup for two terms, joined communist party in 1940 and became member of CPI-M Manipur state committee in 1988 .
He was also state secretariat member of the party from 1994 to 2007 and had participated in various public movements including establishment of Manipur Legislative Assembly and statehood demand as well as the demand for inclusion of Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule, Shanta recounted and described his demise as a great loss for the party and farmers of the state.
He also informed that CPI - M state committee gave Kunjo the last honour by covering his body with party's red flag and conveyed of sharing the grief and pain of the bereaved family.
