Imphal, September 24 2021:
Joint Committee of Maliang, Sorde and Sorathel villages inPhungyar sub-division of Kamjong district has drawn attention of the state government towards the need for ensuring proper functioning of the Primary Health Sub Centre (PHSC), which covers the three villages.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Friday, Committee convenor Lungshim Athari said that for around 1000 people in the three the PHSC, having staff strength of four, is the only healthcare centre.
However, the villagers are facing hardships in terms of healthcare services due to irregular attendance to duty by the staffer.
They had approached the department concerned with request for ensuring availability of the staff and making the PHSC fully functional but no initiatives have been taken up so far.
Even during the Covid 19 pandemic, the two nurses posted at the sub-centre come only once a month for routine immunisation, he said.
On the other hand, the PHSC building constructed in 2014 under the MDS still remains incomplete.
It also lacks quality control, he said while drawing attention of the government for completing the building construction and sending the required staff so as to make the PHSC fully functional.
