State joins observance of 52nd NSS Day
President Kovind honours DBC, Maram volunteer Pretty Inkah

Under the aegis of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Department, State NSS Cell Manipur observed the 52nd NSS Day 2021 at National Sports Academy, Indoor Hall in Khuman Lampak on Friday.
Meanwhile, Pretty Inkah, who is an NSS volunteer of Don Bosco College, Maram has bagged the National Service Scheme (NSS) Award for the year 2019-2020 , which President Ram Nath Kovind presented in a virtual ceremony on Friday.
The NSS award was given to Pretty Inkah in recognition of her commendable service in the adopted village 'Ramlung' particularly in adult literacy programme, Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao, awareness programmes, environment, health and hygiene issues.
Pretty Inkah is also the recipient of best NSS Volunteer award of her college in 2018.The NSS Awards for the year 2019-20 were presented to 42 youth volunteers and faculties in the categories of University/+2 Councils, NSS Units and programme officers and NSS volunteers.
The state level function of the observance was held with YAS commissioner Bobby Waikhom as chief guest and director T Phulen Meitei as president, while Dhanamanjuri University Vice Chancellor Prof Nongmaithem Rajmuhon Singh and Manipur University of Culture Vice Chancellor Prof Paonam Gunindro Singh were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, State NSS Officer Md Firoz Khan informed that there are around 209 NSS cells in Manipur, engaged in various activities.
The observance this year will honour and recognise all those who have fallen victims to the Covid pandemic, including those who helped their fellow humans.
On top of this, a felicitation programme of Don Bosco, Maram volunteer Preety who won the national award for this year will also be organised.
Additionally, Best Volunteer, Best Programme Officer and Best Unit selected from around 200 NSS volunteers and 40 programme officers will be honoured.
Firoz urged principals of schools and colleges to submit the utilisation certificates and volunteer lists for timely release of funds that will be used by NSS Cell for different activities.
He then urged for concerted efforts in instilling a sense of common brotherhood among the youth of the state.
