Kangpokpi, January 02 2023:
Committed and dedicated to his responsibility as a Pastor, Rev J Lunkim left his dead father to lead Kangpokpi Christian Church (KCC) in greeting the New Year 2023 .
Jamkhai Lunkim, father of Rev J Lunkim, Pastor KCC, left for his heavenly abode after a prolonged illness on the last day of 2022 evening at Keithelmanbi Military Colony.
However, true to his commitment and being spiritually matured, Rev J Lunkim left his dead father to lead the midnight service organised to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the New Year at KCC.
The midnight service of KCC is a brainchild initiative of Rev J Lunkim, who was recently honored for his dedicated Pastoral service.
He made an inspiring speech at the midnight service attended by thousands of Church members.
The Midnight Service held annually on December 31 at KCC gained popularity with the arrangement of Bible verses for the new year which the Church members have to randomly pick after dedication & blessing.
Many people from across the town participate in the Midnight Service to pick the New Year Bible Verse which is considered as the guidance of God.
Exactly at noon, the Pastor and Church members praise the Lord and shake hands wishing one another a happy new year.
In the morning, a new year worship service was organised by all the Churches in the town, and a get-together service at noon where they celebrate the New Year by singing gospel hymns throughout the day.
A new year's feast marked the celebration in all the Churches.
Local bodies such as Kangpokpi Town Committee and Kangpokpi Youth Union distributed sweets to all the Churches as a new year blessing.
It may be mentioned that Rev J Lunkim bid farewell to his father and participated in the funeral ceremony this afternoon at Keithelmanbi Military Colony.
Moreover, 20 Assam Rifles stationed at Khudengthabi Post distributed sweets and other food items to children travelling along Imphal-Moreh Road to celebrate the New Year.
