All Manipur Muslim Organisation Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has denounced the indifference attitude of the Police and authorities concerned regarding the 'alleged kidnapping' of a class 8 student by the founder of the coaching centre where the girl was studying.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held today at AMMOCOC Office, Hatta in connection with the matter, AMMOCOC secretary general Wahidur Rehman said that the accused identified as Thokchom Kenedy from Khangabok Part III in Thoubal district has allegedly called the young student who is only 13 years old from her home and was lured away by him on December 15, 2022 .
After the incident, the girl and the accused remain untraceable till date, he added.
He further informed that a report was filed at Thoubal Women Police Station on December 17 in connection with the matter and the Thoubal District SP has also assured that the whereabouts of the girl will be traced soon.
However the police and relevant authorities have failed to take up any positive measures regarding the matter which is really unfortunate, he lamented.
He urged the authorities concerned to trace the girl at the earliest and hand her to the family members and demanded for befitting punishment to the 'alleged kidnapper' .
He also cautioned that if the above demands are not materialised, AMMOCOC in association with the CSOs and public will take up democratic protests.
Meanwhile, Social and Educational Welfare Organisation (SEWO) Manipur also condemned the alleged kidnapping of the young girl student and appealed to all concerned to trace the whereabouts of the girl as soon as possible.
