Workshop on organic farming concludes

A seven-day national workshop for faculties of colleges and universities on organic farming, which was jointly organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) and Ghanapriya (GP) Women's College, concluded on Monday at the college premises.
GP College head of English department associate professor L Bishwachandra, GP College Students' Union vice-president Dr M Bidyasagar, and head of botany department associate professor Th Jayantakumar attended the closing ceremony as presidium members.
In their speeches, the dignitaries stressed on the need for utilising the knowledge gained during the workshop along with pointed out that making them part of the curriculum of colleges and schools will help in promoting organic farming among the people.
They also spoke on the negative health impacts of using chemical fertilisers and pesticides in farming.
Workshop coordinator Dr Ningombam Bijaya said that the workshop was organised with the objective to update knowledge of the faculties so that they could impart the knowledge to the students in order to bring a healthy society through organic foods.
Certificates were also distributed to the participating delegates on the occasion.
