Imphal, January 02 2023:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has extended their best wishes to the people of Manipur and called for increased focus on entrepreneurship and economic nationalism on the occasion of the 21st foundation day of DESAM, which falls on January 3 .
In a press release, DESAM shared that the month-long 78th mega blood donation camp had been launched in this connection from December 22 entitled "Maheiroi Khunai Amadi Leibak Meeyamgidamak Kathoklaba Ee" coupled with an awareness campaign.
The statement shared that DESAM aspires to tackle the multiple issues plaguing the society which have the potential to cause it immense harm by improving the education system and producing more productive citizens who will face these problems head-on.
DESAM has consistently participated in social causes and made appeals to the Government on various issues, it added.
DESAM also highlighted the dwindling replacement rate, which reportedly stands at 1.7 .
This shows that there is no population growth and in the future outsiders might possibly lord over this place, the statement added.
In order to overcome many of the issues facing the society, it is important to develop economic nationalism and become a self-reliant State, DESAM said.
In this regard, DESAM placed great importance on entrepreneurship stating that manufacturing local and indigenous products, promoting and supporting them by purchasing these items should be on the top of everybody's priorities.
DESAM urged the people to face the issues prevalent in the State with the ideas of economic nationalism and entrepreneurship accompanied by values of dignity of labour and
work culture.
