War on Drugs : Local clubs have responsibility, says Sapam Ranjan

Local clubs have great responsibility and they must take an active role in the War on Drugs, said Health Minister Sapam Ranjan.
The Government and the State forces only cannot end drug trafficking.
Local clubs should also play their part, he said.
The Minister said this while attending the 59th Foundation Day celebration of Naharol Club at NCK Ground, Kangmong today.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, Sapam Ranjan said Chief Minister N Biren Singh initiated the War on Drugs to save future generations.
The War on Drugs has been strengthened and it has even led to the arrest of some village chiefs.
Advising youths to avoid drugs, he said those who use drugs should also come back to normal life.
He also appealed to the people, clubs, parents to stand together to fight against drug menace.
During the function, floral tributes were paid to the photos of the departed souls of NCK office bearers as a mark of respect.
The Minister also released a calendar published by the NCK.
Elderly persons of the locality and founder president and secretary were also presented gifts by the NCK.
Prior to the main programme, a spot drawing competition was held at the NCK Community hall.
The competition was held in two categories-Classes I-III (Theme-Save Environment) and Classes IV-VI (Against Drug) .
Around 97 students from different schools participated in the competition.
In the Class I-III category, Konjengbam Suraj Singh (Class I) stood first position.
In the Class IV-VI category, Laisharm Bashuraj Singh of Sunusiphai Mayai Leikai got first position.
Founder secretary NCK Sinam Heramani Khuman, Officer-in-Charge Nambol Police Station Aribam Nabakanta Sharma among others attended the event.
