Senior Citizens for Society Wangoi Chapter observes 11th foundation day

Former Minister Oinam Lukhoi has asserted that Manipur can become a developed, prosperous and peaceful State when people show reverence for their elders and embrace their advice, thoughts and opinions.
The former Minister made the statement during the 11th foundation day observance of Senior Citizens for Society, Wangoi Chapter.
The vice-president of BJP Manipur was speaking as the chief guest of the function which was held at the office of Senior Citizens for Society, Wangoi Chapter located in Wangoi on January 1 .
Oinam Lukhoi stated that the Government and CSOs should take the advice and opinions of senior citizens on social issues.
He spoke against the mistreatment of elders by their children and family adding that there are only a handful of senior citizens who do not have any family.
The rest have been abandoned by their families or suffered extreme mistreatment in their twilight years and sought refuge in old age homes, he said.
Lastly, the former Minister urged people to listen to the words of wisdom from these elders to help in the creation of a prosperous society.
Dignitaries present at the function include Khaidem Mani, Senior Advocate, general secretary, Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur; H Chandra, president, Senior Citizens for Society, Wangoi Chapter; W Amutombi, vice-president and Kh Sarat, vice-president as the presidium members.
As a part of the day's function, a floral tribute was offered on the photos of Late W Nipamacha, former Chief Minister of Manipur and deceased members of Senior Citizens for Society, Wangoi Chapter.
