Imphal, May 07 2014:
While condemning the alleged racial abuse against a tribal officer (ZEO of Thoubal) on April 24 by Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), the apex students' organisation of the Tangkhul community has joined the 'oust Minister Nasir' campaign.
"An independent investigation by the Union after the occurrence of the episode has tacitly revealed beyond a shadow of doubt that the Minister has a series of cases regarding manhandling, assaults and he is accustomed to using abusive and vulgar words to bureaucrats and friends alike," alleged TKS.
"History repeats itself but only for fools" is a maxim and it is true that his unruly repetition of his insanity to the officers ever since he took the charge of the ministerial post in Agriculture is unbecoming of an honourable minister.
If such an irrational person like him should continue to remain as Minister, Education department will be a mockery in Manipur.
The damage is already done as the Minister has given a rejoinder that he had not done anything wrong beyond the law and the Constitution," the Tangkhul student body said.
According to TKS, it is a shameful thing for all the denizens of Manipur to have such a figure without rationality.
TKS said it is not against the minority Muslims of Manipur.
It is neither to perpetuate hatred between the two minority groups but is against a particular Minister who claims himself a minority group.
It is true that he has committed a crime under Prevention of Atrocities Act 1989.Therefore, the CLP should not sit idle but initiate immediate steps for removal of his ministerial post," the TKS added.
TKS also extended a heartfelt gratitude towards ATSUM for its selfless sacrifices to retain Alternative/Additional English in lieu of MIL for those tribes whose languages are not recognized by Board of Secondary Education Manipur.
