Tripura Congress for CEO removal

Even as the Election Commission has not responded to the allegations of poll manipulations in the two Parliamentary Constituencies of East and West Tripura by the Trinamool Congress as well as the BJP, a Tripura Pradesh Congress delegation today submitted a representation to the ECI demanding the removal of the Chief Electoral Officer of the State.
The delegation also submitted a video footage and pictures of the polling booths.
The pictures showed 2-3 voters congregating inside the booth, while several photographs captured by mobiles phones showed more than 3 people standing inside the polling rooms along with policemen.
The two phase polls in Tripura were held on April 7 and 12 .
Tripura Pradesh Congress General Secretary Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma told The Sangai Express that the voter turn out were about 60 percent until 3 pm.
In the last hours from 4 pm the voter turn out was suddenly above 80 percent, he said.
Out of the total 1500 polling booths in Tripura 700 booths are manipulated, said Deb Barma.
The Congress delegation alleged the inaction of the CEO and election officials for giving a free hand to malpractices.
"We are demanding that the CEO be booked under Representation of People's Act, 1951," said Deb Barma.
He asserted "We have submitted all evidence, the ECI will study the matter".
CEO Ashutosh Jindal, a senior IAS officer has been in charge of Election in different capacities since 1998 in Tripura.
Under him the State received an award for best poll management in 2013.The CPI(M) have been in power for more than a decade in Tripura.
