Only 62 RSBY card holders in State, 3 districts yet to avail benefit

So far, 62 BPL families in the State have registered their names as beneficiaries under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) scheme, but people in three districts, who are eligible to enjoy the benefit, are still out of the reach of the scheme till date.
Under RSBY, literally National Health Insurance for BPL families, at least five members of a family are entitled to get Rs 30,000 for medical treatment.
The national scheme was introduced in Manipur by the Labour Department in 2007 .
Earlier, the State Government conducted a state wide survey and identified a total of 1.79 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families to provide benefit under the scheme.
Now, Manipur has 62 RSBY card holders.
But BPL families in Chandel and Senapati districts and urban areas of Imphal West are yet to avail the benefit.
Official sources informed that it is mandatory to make formal announcement by the State Government to implement the scheme in the three districts.
Every RSBY card holder requires renewing of their card each year on payment of Rs 30 .
The impaneled hospitals for the RSBY beneficiaries in the State are Raj Polyclinic, Imphal, Shija Hospitals, Imphal, Sky Hospital, Imphal and Shanti Hospital, Imphal.
