Oil exploration works to start soon in Mizoram

Officials of Oil India Limited (OIL) today met Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and apprised the latter of the progress as well as problems in the ongoing oil exploration work in the State.
They informed the Chief Minister that they plan to begin the work at Maubuang Drilling Site by the month of July.
OIL officials expressed their gratitude to the State government for its openness and help in different ways, while Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla pn his part lauded OIL as being the best performer among the different Companies that have been assigned by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas on oil and gas exploration in Mizoram Block.
CM also asked the OIL officials in detail over the problems they encountered in their exploration work.
Official representatives of OIL India told the Chief Minister that Maubuang Drilling Site has been set ready for drilling work, and that they hope to start the work by early July.
In order to begin the drilling work, about 400 truck trailer of materials is required to be installed by about 15 different service provider companies operating under OIL, the OIL officials said, and requested the Chief Minister to ready Road Permit at the earliest.
Besides, the OIL officials informed the Chief Minister that for purpose of accumulation of materials at Keifang Drilling Site, road expansion is required between Seling and Keifang, for which they have provided the requisite fund to Border Roads Organization; but then BRO has not started the work yet, they said.
The Chief Minister promised them to ready the required Road Permit at earliest possible, and regarding road expansion along Seling-Keifang road, he told the OIL officials that he will call on Project Pushpak Chief Engineer to look into the matter.
Officials of OIL who met the Chief Minister today included Dr.Rahul Dasgupta, General Manager, NEF Project OIL; Diganta Bora Chief Chemist, NEF Project, OIL and Gautam Das, Chief Engineer (Civil), NEF Project, OIL.
