In connection with the Caste Free India Meet 2014, an award presentation ceremony was organized by Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Manipur at Manipur Press Club here today.
The function was attended by Th Lokeshwor Singh, Speaker of Manipur legislative Assembly as Chief Guest; Y Mahendrakumar Singh, national secretary of Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Manipur as President; Rajen Ayangba, president of Japanese Hospital Manipur as Special Guest and Kh Menjor Singh, National & International Awardee, who is also the founder of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, as Guest of Honour.
Delivering key note address, Padmashree W Gojen Meetei said that the award ceremony was organized in honour of those 67 people who were conferred with Dr Ambedkar Kala Kshetra Award 2014 by Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Assam State Committee on April 25 but could not go to receive it.
He informed that the award carries certificate along with memento and was given in recognition of their valuable contribution towards social work, literature, art & culture and theatre.
Dr P Dhaneshwori Devi and T Rameshawar, both eminent scholars who were also present at the function spoke on 'Dalit Problem in Northeastern States, India & Abroad' .
To mark the occasion, a book titled 'Meetei Mayek Khonthok Neinaba' written by Dr M Bimola Devi was also released.
