Suspected Dengue

Kangpokpi, March 17 2022:
A suspected case of Dengue was detected at Kangpokpi district headquarters this afternoon prompting the District Malaria Officer to initiate immediate preventive measures for the safety of the denizens.
A seven year old girl from Vengthah Ward No.3 admitted at District Hospital Kangpokpi was suspected to be suffering from Dengue which prompted the authority concerned to act immediately.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Ph.
Henkhoneng Mate, District Malaria Officer said that the patient was tested positive in the Rapid test and she is under Provisional Diagnosis while her sample was sent for confirmation at Imphal.
If the sample is confirmed positive, it will be the first Dengue case detected in the district this year.
While informing the Ward authorities concerned, a team of the District Malaria Office led by the DMO held an emergency meeting with the denizens of Vengthah Ward No.3 in the presence of the Ward Committee Chairman, Chonkam Kipgen at his residence.
The District Malaria Officer and his team highlighted the symptoms, cause, and preventive measures of Dengue and disseminated other important information on how to prevent Dengue and its spread.
Meanwhile, the District Malaria Office team also carried fogging in the vicinity of Vengthah Ward No.3 including the residence of the patient to contain the spread of the disease, a mosquito-borne viral disease in the locality.
Vengthah Ward No.3 Committee Chairman, Chonkam Kipgen appealed to the denizens of the locality to maintain cleanliness, and stay neat and tidy while urging them to follow the instruction of the authorities concerned.
