After attending a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Board at Delhi yesterday, N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi arrived here this afternoon.

Responding to queries raised by media persons, Biren said, "Our trip to Delhi was not to attend Parliamentary Board meeting.
The Parliamentary Board meeting was held separately though we attended an election review meeting held under the chairmanship of BJP National president JP Nadda" .
On being enquired if the news reports published in certain National media that he would take oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the second consecutive term is true, Biren dismissed the same report as based on speculation.
BJP is a well organised and highly disciplined political party.
The question of who would be the next Chief Minister would be decided by the party's Parliamentary Board, he said.
"There is nothing official to the many posts, speculations and comments uploaded on social media.
Even I was not informed about who would be the next Chief Minister of Manipur", Biren said.
Saying that BJP Central observers are yet to come to Imphal, Biren appealed to all concerned not to create misunderstanding by circulating fabricated news.
He categorically stated that he would welcome any decision taken by the party.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda said that BJP Central leaders have not yet given any indication on who would be next Chief Minister nor a final decision has been adopted on who would be BJP Manipur legislature leader.
"The trip to Delhi had nothing to do with appointment of a new Chief Minister.
We went to Delhi to celebrate the party's landslide victory in Manipur and discuss about the next Parliamentary election which is due in 2024," Biren said.
Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju who have been appointed as Central observers will come to Imphal after Yaoshang festival.
They would finalise the matter of electing a new Chief Minister, Sharda added.
