NGO conclave on aspirational districts collaborative held

As part of the activities of Aspirational Districts Collaborative (ADC), a one-day NGO conclave was hosted by Piramal Foundation at Limkhu Inn, Chandel on Thursday.
Grassroots NGOs from various parts of Chandel district participated in the conclave facilitated for the local organisations in Chandel to get together, understand each other's experiences, methodology and contributions towards the development of communities in Chandel.
Around 50 leaders and representatives of 16 NGOs participated in the conclave.
The main objective of ADC is to build a grassroots ecosystem for change with leaders from community (local NGOs, local colleges, self-help groups, PRIs, local faith leaders) working together with district administration in transforming aspirational districts.
This is first of its kind event to bring social changes through collaboration and convergence for improving lives of communities.
Since the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, 151 local NGOs led Surakshit Dada Dadi Nana Nani Abhiyaan in 112 aspirational districts, reaching out to over 2.9 million senior citizens virtually/door to door for resolving their grievances (food, banking, medicine among others) with support of district administration, nodal officer of aspirational district and Piramal Foundation.
This national network of local NGOs has now evolved to more than 700-plus local NGOs registered on Mera Yogdan App.
Hyper local NGOs hailed the NGO Conclave and expressed their willingness to contribute to the district and learning together as partners of Aspirational Districts Collaborative.
They joined the workshop with an intent to serve their communities better.
One of the participants Maxwell Saka of Nihrin Foundation said, "As we are in initial stage of our organisation, I attended this conclave to know more NGOs and grow network with those working in Chandel district".
Another participant, reverend Rd Joy Kumar of Christian Social Development shared that he feels great to have come together with so many other NGOs of the district for the first time.
It will help them to understand the experiences, struggles and achievements of one another.
Dangshawa Larni of Tribal Upliftment Society expressed that she learnt about the roles of five types of partners of ADC: local NGOs, Piramal Foundation, district administration, technical partners and NITI Aayog.
Ng Rameson Monsang, the former district youth officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandel, also stressed that the local NGOs need to explore various gaps in the development of the district and work in those areas where the government could not.
He also said that the NGOs can do much more for making Chandel a better district.
Toiba Sultana (senior program manager) aspirational districts collaborative of Piramal foundation, Padmashri awardee Dr S Bimola Kumari of Sangai Youth Tobacco Free Organisation, renowned tribal activist Guru Jamkhomang Haokip of Social Development Foundation and Hechin Haokip, founder and chairman of Centre for Women and Girls participated in the event among others.
Piramal Foundation Chandel team Suwarna Singh, David Haokip and Partho and Piramal Foundation NE team were also present during the conclave.
