Contested polls without money: Brinda

Thounaojam Brinda, who contested for the Yaiskul AC seat on JD (U) ticket in the just concluded state assembly election, has categorically stated that the high number of votes she received despite the lack of money power is a huge success in itself.
She then urged all newly elected MLAs of the state to bring prosperity to the state.
Addressing a press meet held at her Yaiskul Janmasthan residence on Thursday, Brinda urged the 60 new MLAs including the 5 women to take Manipur to the right direction.
She then appreciated all those who voted for her, in addition to giving her moral support and as such, said that she will show her appreciation in action.
She further extended her gratitude to members of Meetei Pangal community and others who extended support to her physically during the election campaign.
It is first time in the history of the state for the people to fund a candidate, she remarked.
Brinda said that as she contested the election without any muscle or money power and the huge number of votes she got is a success in a way.
She then stated that she will continue to work for the people including forming a Council, which would work to ensure the rights of farmers/workers who voted for her.
Expressing joy over the election of 5 women MLAs, she urged the women MLAs to take a proactive role in bringing peace and prosperity to the state while working alongside the other MLAs.
She also urged the people to extend support to their respective representatives, adding that the government cannot work without the support of the people.
She then urged for concerted efforts towards bringing more development in the state within the next 5 years.
