Kangpokpi on alert over suspected Dengue case

Kangpokpi, March 17 2022:
A suspected case of Dengue was detected in Kangpokpi District Headquarters on Thursday afternoon, prompting the District Malaria Officer to initiate immediate preventive measures for the safety of the denizens.
A seven-year-old girl from Vengthah Ward No 3, who is suspected to be suffering from Dengue, was admitted to the District Hospital, which prompted the authority concerned to act immediately.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate, District Malaria Officer, informed that the patient tested positive after a rapid test, and she is under provisional diagnosis while her sample has been sent for confirmation to Imphal.
If the sample is confirmed positive, then if will be the first Dengue case detected in the district this year.
After informing the Ward authorities, a team of the District Malaria Office led by the DM0 held an emergency meeting with the residents of Vengthah Ward No 3 in the presence of the Ward Committee chairman, Chonkam Kipgen at his residence.
The District Malaria Officer and her team highlighted the symptoms, cause and preventive measures of Dengue and disseminated various other important information on preventing Dengue and its spread.
Meanwhile, the District Malaria Office team carried out preventive fogging in the vicinity of Vengthah Ward No 3 to contain the spread of the vector-borne viral disease in the locality.
Vengthah Ward No 3 Committee chairman, Chonkam Kipgen has appealed to the locals to maintain cleanliness, and stay neat and tidy while urging them to follow the instruction of the authorities concerned.
