NUKO for increasing of workers' wages

Imphal, October 12 2021:
Pointing out that the average daily wage of Rs 300 for workers in private firms, stone crushing units, brick fields, etc, is not compatible with the changing time and requirements, Northern United Club Organisation (NUCO) has demanded the private parties to increase the daily wages.
In a release, NUCO said that present wages of the workers is insufficient as the prices of essential items have sky rocketed.
The daily wages should not be below Rs 500, it added.
According to labour law, the working hour should be eight hours a day and 48 hours a week, the release informed, while adding that the guidelines of the international labour law should be followed.
Demanding private companies, stone crusher owners, brick field and private industries for implementing the law within October 19, NUCO also stressed on the importance to provide opportunities for such work to the indigenous people of Manipur.
