Imphal, October 12 2021:
Pangal Students's Organisation (PSO) has said they will look into the impact of drug abuse amongst students and Muslim community.
BM Zeeshan, president, PSO said this during the 13th foundation day observation of the organisation held today at its office in Majorkhul and added that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the students during the last two years as physical classes have been cancelled due to the virus.
With the students away from physical classes and sudden changes in academic atmosphere, a number of students have fallen prey to drug abuse and most students have become addicted to their smartphones, he added.
This has made them stray from extra curricular activities.
Zeeshan added that PSO has been organising various programmes under its 'Afaba Maheiroi Puthoksi, Afaba Khunnai Oihansi' (Let's foster good students, let's create a good society) campaign and had also been involved in various issues of the State.
He added that a drug committee of the PSO will be formed soon to address the issue of drug menace amongst students and the society at large.
The programme was also attended by L Nandakumar, Director, Education (S); Ph Nando Luwang, president AMUCO; Kh Bidyasagar, president MSF; Kh Serjauddin, advisor, PSO and Ng Milan, advisor MSF as presidium members.
