In a noteworthy move to conduct a free and fair election and uproot corruption from the State, Koirengei Welfare Youth Club (KWYC) has banned the distribution of money and all festivities with regards to the upcoming Assembly election.
The statement was made at a meeting with media persons held today at Koirengei Bazar Community Hall by Heisnam Oken, advisor KWYC.
He informed the media persons present that this ban will be active in all areas covered by polling station 2/11 under Heingang AC.
He requested the political leaders to respect this ban and further stated that any citizen found violating the ban will have to deal with the consequences.

He also made an appeal to all to support the ban, with the message that if other polling stations impose similar bans, it will be a step closer to electing a true leader.
In order to uproot corruption it is essential to ensure that the elections are free and fair, he added.
It is worth mentioning that the decision to impose this ban was arrived at after a lengthy discussion between KWYC and Koirengei Bazar Nupi Lup.
