Senapati DH gets tele-cardiology service

In what could be termed as fortunate for the people of Senapati, Tele-cardiology services has been inaugurated at District Hospital, Senapati in a function held with CMO Dr Pfokreho Pfoze as chief guest, medical superintendent Dr M Sokha-a as president and NPHCE Senapati DNO Dr Mustaque Ahmed as guest of honour.
The service was launched during the observance of World Heart Day, 2021 at the Hospital under the theme "Use heart to connect" organised by NCD Cell under NHM, Senapati.
The Tele-cardiology service will enable patients to check one's heart and ease the earlier system of extended process.
In his address, CMO Pfokreho stated that heart is the most precious part of a body and needs to be properly maintained to live a long and healthy life.
While noting that 18.8 million deaths due to cardiovascular disease are reported every year, the CMO said one should strictly and intelligently check on what one eats and urged all to spread the awareness of healthy living.
He also urged the people to avail the services of tele-cardiology as this facility can be availed through online without having to visit doctor physically as the global COVID-19 pandemic has not completely been contained.
He also mentioned that "Health for All" scheme was recently launched by the chief minister to deliver door-step health screening for NCD to people above 18 years of age.
Dr Sumpi Percy, in her keynote address, stated that the World Heart Day is observed on September 29 every year but was delayed due to collision of different programmes.
The observance aims to bring ASHAs and patients together to create awareness about consequences of cardiovascular diseases and jointly fight against such diseases as well as to inspire one to promote healthy heart.
She also urged ASHAs and all healthcare workers to strive to win the hearts of the patients and treat them with care and compassion.
Meanwhile, Dr Mustaque Ahmed advised all who heart issues to come and get examined at the hospital before things get worse.
The doctor also cautioned against smoking and using tobacco items and emphasised on regular exercise, consume healthy foods and fruits and strictly follow healthy habits.
Clinical assessment followed the programme where staff of NCD Cell, Senapati took measurement of BMI & BP, estimation of Blood Sugar and Lipid profile and ECG of the attendees.
