Athuan Abonbai's funeral on Oct 14

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai along with the family members of the deceased has decided to hold/conduct the "Funeral Service cum Condolence" programme on October 14 at Tarung village community hall, Thangmeiband.
It may be mentioned that Athuan Abonmai was abducted and subsequently murdered on September 22 in Tamenglong district when he went to attend the official programme "Go to Hills" graced by the Chief Minister as the chief guest and attended by his Cabinet colleagues and top Government officials.
His dead body/mortal remains was brought to Imphal on September 23 and has been kept at the RIMS morgue after completion of post mortem examination and other necessary official procedures and formalities.
Government team led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the JAC represented by its Convenor; Advisor and leaders of the various Zeliangrong Civil Organizations met five times before the two sides inked a Memorandum of Agreement on October 6, the JAC said in a statement.
The family members and relatives of late Athuan Abonmai and the JAC also requested all the leaders of the leading Civil Society Organizations of the State and those who have shared the pain and grief with the family members to attend the "Funeral Service Cum Condolence" service.
The programme will start from 11.30 am after the Chief Minister lays the foundation stone for Athuan Abonmai Memorial Park foundation stone at memorial park site dedicated to the late soul, the JAC informed.
