Will dedicate life to agriculture sector: Th Chaoba

Former Union minister, five time ex-MLA, ex-deputy chief minister & Padma Shri awardee Thounaojam Chaoba has said that he will now dedicate rest of his life for the development of agriculture and allied sector.
Speaking during a felicitation function hosted in his honour by Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou on being awarded Padma Shri on Monday, Th Chaoba, who is also Institute's chairman, announced retirement from electoral politics.
Chaoba also mentioned that since joining active pol itics he has been working for welfare of the public, focusing on people belonging to weaker section of the society, sportspersons, working for water supply connectivity and empowerment of women by providing jobs to them.
While opining that such activities could be the reason for his selection for the Padma Shri, he also recalled various issues he had taken up during his time in public service including eviction drive at Palace Compound, saving Khuman Lampak, organising National Games in Manipur, promoting Sepak Takraw and Wushu to national stage, donating land for SAI-SAG at Utlou & KVK, promoting co-operatives and culture of the state, etc.
The programme was also attended by Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou director Dr RK Imotomba, faculty members and students.
