Health Minister flags off district residency programme for PG medical students

As many as 48 Post Graduate medical students have been sent to hospitals in different districts under "District Residency Programme" .
Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh flagged off the medical students at the Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat, Imphal today.
Under the District Residency Programme, the Post Graduate medical residents will be stationed at different district hospitals and serve for three months as a part of their curriculum.
The district hospitals where they will undergo the residency programme include Churachandpur District Hospital, Chandel DH, Moreh Hospital, Senapati DH, Tamenglong DH, Thoubal DH and Ukhrul DH.
The 48 post graduate medical students are from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat.
Wishing the PG students before departing at the Medical Directorate Office, Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that the programme is made mandatory by the National Medical Council and it signifies the responsibility of a post graduate resident.
Advising the PG students to serve the people in the hospitals at their best level with dedication, he stressed that the motto of medical profession is to serve the people with sincerity.
So, they should deliver good service to the people, he added.
He also appealed to the medical professionals to take the responsibility of lifting the medical infrastructure in the State.
Later, the Ministerial team inspected the ongoing construction work of the Health Directorate office and its surrounding.
Additional Chief Secretary V Vumlunmang, Director Health Services Manipur Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, officials and staff of Medical Directorate, RIMS and JNIMS attended the event.
