District Magistrate urged to stay eviction notice

Alliance for Development Alternatives Manipur (ADAM), Kakching has urged the Kakching DC to stay or vacate the eviction order served by SDO, Kakching to ADAM and Machin Manao Sevashram, Kakching in the larger interest of the public.
In a letter addressed to the district magistrate/deputy commissioner, ADAM informed that its work is widely acknowledged and appreciated by the public including the chief minister.
The letter further stated that various representations for demarcation of areas out of 105 acres for which necessary NOC was issued by the Kakching Municipal Council in 2005, which falls under CS Dag no.189 and also another registered as forest area with the status of unclassed forest under Chandel Forest Division which have been looked after by ADAM for more than 20 years, have also been made to the DC concerned from time to time.
However, the SDO issued an eviction order on March 31 on the basis of DSLR survey report dated December 28, 2022 without giving any concrete reason, the letter said while adding that a public meeting was convened in this regard on April 9 and unanimously resolved to request the DC to stay or vacate the eviction order served to ADAM and Machin Manao Sevashram.
