Workshop for science teachers begins

A three-day residential training workshop on hands-on-physics for science teachers of hill areas of Manipur, which is jointly being organised by Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) and Vigyan Prasar, DST, Government of India, New Delhi, commenced from Monday at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak, here.
The inaugural session of the workshop was attended by commissioner (science & technology) M Yaiskul Meitei, scientist Dr LBK Tyagi of Vigyan Prasar, national awardee teacher Manish Kumar from UP, state science communicator awardee N Shyamkishore Singh and MASTEC director Dr L Maniketan Singh as presidium members.
In his speech at the inaugural session, M Yaiskul said that physics teachers should utilise easiest method of teach -ing so that students could have in-depth knowledge of the subject.
While appealing to the physics teachers to take part in workship being organised by MASTEC and Vigyan Prasar, M Yaiskul said that both theory and practical must go together while teaching science subjects to the students.
He also said that science teachers particularly from the hills should take advantage of the workshop and utilise the knowledge gained in imparting science knowledge to students for overall development of the state.
