College student unions demand for regulation of examination fee structure

Various student unions of colleges across the State have warned to impose a ban on the form-fill up process of 2nd, 4th and 6th semester college examinations conducted by the Manipur University if the fee structure is not regulated by tomorrow.
The student unions of 13 colleges cautioned to initiate intense agitation if the authorities concerned fail to issue a notice regarding the new fee structure for 2nd, 4th and 6th semester college examinations by tomorrow.
In connection with the above issue, a joint press meet was held at Manipur College today organised by the students' unions of 13 colleges.
Addressing media persons, Imphal College Students' Union General Secretary, Paritomba Wahengbam informed, 'The examination fees of the ensuing BA/BSc/BCom 2nd, 4th and 6th semester examinations has been raised by 50 percent as compared to last year according to the notification issued by the Manipur University Controller of Examination dated April 5, 2023' .
Expressing discontent over the unreasonable examination fees hike, he appealed to the authorities concerned to regulate the examination fees in the interest of the students at the earliest.
In view of the above, a memorandum has been submitted to the Controller of Examination, Manipur University urging for the regulation of examination fees, he said.
He sought the attention of the authorities concerned to rectify the examination fee structure and issue a new notice by tomorrow in the interest of students failing which they will be compelled to ban the ongoing examination form fill up process until an amicable solution is provided.
