Konsakhul VA decries road block threat

Konsakhul Village Authority chairman D Adam Liangmai has strongly condemned the threat made by Leilon Vaiphei village of shutting down an important road used by Konsakhul denizens, while playing the victim and demanding apology from Konsakhul and at the same time, trying to forcefully take over the latter's land and harassing the villagers.
Addressing a press meet held at Konsakhul on Monday, chairman D Adam stated that Leilon villagers, who had settled only recently in the area of Konsakhul inhabited by Liangmai commu nity since time immemorial, have been harassing and threatening Konsakhul denizens for a long time.
Most recently, Leilon villagers have amped harassment towards Konsakhul denizens passing through the road leading to Leimakhong, including detaining the villagers (Konsakhul), setting fire on vehicles and committing other violent acts.
Although Konsakhul villagers have been forgiving, the recent incidents could not be tolerated and as such, the villagers had sought justice on the matters.
Amid this, Leilon villagers accused Konsakhul of hunting down their (Leilon) Sandang (mithun) in an attempt to cover up their crimes and have threatened to shut down the above road, which leads to the valley.
Condemning this threat made by Leilon villagers, who were allowed to settle in the area after begging the then elders of Konsakhul village; Adam urged the government to look into the matter and help stop such acts.
