HC sets deadline on petition against MLA Kebi

The High Court of Manipur has asked the court-appointed commissioner, advocate S Jhalajit to start examining witnesses and taking evidences regarding the election petition case filed against Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi by her rival S Subhaschandra from April 11 and complete the same within one month.
During hearing of the case on April 6 in the court of justice Ahanthem Bimol, counsels appearing for the parties concerned submitted that they have already submitted their list of witnesses and documents to be relied on by them and the examination of witnesses can be started.
Advocate S Jhalajit, the appointed Commissioner, was also present in the Court and submitted that he can started examining the witnesses and taking evidences from April 11 .
In view of the submissions, the court placed the case before the commissioner for examining the witnesses.
The registry was also directed to provide one stenographer and one judicial assistant to assist the commissioner in examining the witnesses and taking evidences.
The court further asked the commissioner to complete examination of witnesses and compilation of evidences within a month and to submit relevant report in the court.
