Smriti Irani assured to honour demands: Union

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has assured of discussing fulfilment of the different demands raised by Anganwadi, ASHA and midday meal workers, Anganwadi Workers' Helpers' and Mini Workers Union general secretary K Sarala has informed.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, Sarala stated that Anganwadi workers perform the same responsibilities as that of graduate officers during election times.
Thus, Anganwadi, ASHA and midday meal workers demanded equal rights in accordance with the work done and staged a protest against the anti-labour policies of the government at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on March 28 .
After the protest, the workers met union minister Smriti Irani and placed their demands for raising the retirement age of Anganwadi works from 60 years to 65 years, increasing the monthly honorarium, allowing withdrawal of pension after 60 years of age, providing benefits of PMSBY & PMJJBY schemes, filling up vacant posts of helpers and supervisors of Anganwa-dis and covering ASHA workers under the government, she conveyed.
