Debate competition held

As a part of the series of activities organised for celebrating the 75 years of India's Independence, Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union under the guidance of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and NSS Units of the college organised a State Level Debate Competition on the topic 'Condition of The Minorities in Manipur Has Been Improved Under the BJP Led Government' on Monday.
In a release, Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh informed that the competition was organised under the instruction of the Director of University & Higher Education under the banner of Azadi ka Amrif Mahotsav.
Social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and Zoology Department head Dr L Sanahanbi Devi attended the debate as speaker and observer respectively, it added.
The release mentioned that the winners and runner ups in the Open Quiz Competition on Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 conducted online on August 13 were also honoured as a part of the programme with Tenisun Mutum of D M College of Arts receiving the first prize and Md Wakil getting the runner-up prize.
In the debate competition, Syed Dilur Rahman of Five Star School, Lilong bagged first position, Buyamayum Dilshad of Galaxy Higher Secondary School second and Nongjaimayum Nadhrul Munir of Lilong Haoreibi College was awarded the third prize, while Sheikh Zakiya Banu received the Special Jury Mentioned Award.
Prizes were also distributed to the position holders at the programme, it further said.
