Moirang Assembly Constituency MLA Thongam Shanti has expressed hope that devotees will be able to visit the sacred Thangjing Hills and offer prayers at the shrine of Ibudhou Thangjing from next year's Cheiraoba, stating that efforts are being made to restore access to the revered religious site.
The MLA made the statement during a reception programme organised to welcome voters from 130 households belonging to different localities of Moirang Assembly Constituency who recently extended their support to the National People's Party (NPP) .
Addressing the gathering, Shanti said that due to the ongoing violence in the State, devotees have been unable to visit Thangjing Hills and offer prayers at the shrine of Ibudhou Thangjing for the past three years.
He expressed confidence that the situation would improve and assured that he would make every effort to ensure that people are able to undertake the pilgrimage and perform religious rites from next year's Cheiraoba festival.
The MLA stated that he has been consistently taking up the matter with Chief Minister Y Khemchand and other authorities, and added that he has received assurances regarding efforts to address the issue.
