Former MP W Angou passes away

Imphal, October 11 2021:
Former minister, Rajya Sabha member and veteran Congress leader Wahengbam Angou passed away following an illness on Monday at his ancestral home at Lairenjam Awang Leikai under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency in Imphal West district.
Angou was 85 and survived by his wife and two daughters.
He was born on July 5, 1936.As a representative of INC, Angou was nominated as member of the Rajya Sabha from 1996 to 2002.He even became deputy speaker, speaker and minister as representative of the people of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency while his wife Wahengbam Leima too won assembly election as INC candidate from the same constituency.
Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has deeply condoled the sudden demise of Angou and an emergency condolence meet was convened with president N Loken in the chair.
MPCC functionaries, state Congress leaders and workers paid floral tribute to portrait of W Angou during the condolence meet held at Rishang Keishing Media Centre and observed a two-minute silence as mark of respect to the departed soul.
Speaking at the condolence meet, CLP leader O Ibobi expressed that demise of W Angou is not only the loss for the party but also for the state.
Contributions made by Angou for the state, country and the party will be remembered forever, he added.
In his speech at the meet, N Loken said that the demise of W Angou is great loss for all and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
He also said that Congress party shares the pains and grief of bereaved family of Angou.
