Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has condoled the demise of veteran Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Wahengbam Angou Singh today.
He was 85 .
A condolence meeting was organised today at Congress Bhavan which was attended by office bearers of MPCC and its members.
A two minute silence was observed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Congress leaders also paid floral tribute to the portrait of late Wahengbam Angou.
Speaking at the condolence meeting, CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh condoled the veteran leader and stated that his contributions for the welfare of the people as a true nationalist and as a true Congressman will be remembered forever.
He further said that his demise is a huge loss not only for the Congress party but also for the whole of Manipur.
MPCC working president N Loken also condoled the demise of the Congress leader and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family members.
He was Member of the Rajya Sabha for the term, April 10, 1996 to April 9, 2002 from Manipur and was Chairman, Government Assurance Committee.
He was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly during 1980-1995 where he served as Deputy Speaker from 1981 to 1984 and Speaker from 1985 to 1988 .
