BVP, Manipur Prant pledges to promote progress and safety of girl child

Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Manipur Prant celebrated 'International Girl Child Day' at Ningthoukhong Bazar (Part 2) today.
The day is celebrated for empowering and amplifying the voices of young girls around the world and BVP observed the day as 'KANYA PUJAN -Healthy Girl for a Healthy Nation', said a press release by BVP, Manipur Prant.
As a part of the programme, a ceremonial cake cutting was done with the participating girls.
Haemoglobin screening test was also done for about 73 adolescent girls under Anaemia Mukt Bharat campaign of BVP.
Sanitary napkins, stationary items, hand towels, food items were distributed to the girls, added the press release.

Talks on Anaemia and Malnutrition were delivered by invited guest speakers during the programme.
Govindas Konthoujam, former MLA, Dr S Rajendra Singh, National Vice President, BVP, Prof M Premjit Singh, Former VC, CAU, Imphal, Prof Damayanti Devi, HOD, Dept of Life Science, MU graced the occasion as the presidium members, continued the release.
BVP, Manipur further informed that during the programme, National Project Member, Mahila and Bal Vikas, BVP, H Joybi Devi appealed to all girls child to know the issues related to reproductive health, maternal health and malnutrition etc.
in order to improve well being of girl child to help in building a strong nation.
Later members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur Prant pledge to promote the progress and safety of girl child and also help increase awareness on achieving gender equality and women's empowerment.
