Girl Up Khonjel distributes sanitary pads at B Phaicham village

Churachandpur, October 11 2021:
Girl Up Khonjel on Sunday organised a workshop at B Phaicham village in Churachandpur and distributed sustainable sanitary pads to the villagers.
The workshop was conducted to spread awareness regarding menstruation so as to ensure menstrual equity, hygiene and dismantle myths & taboos around menstruation.
The event was attended by the village chief, Thangminlen Baite; Thenkholal Baite; Manglenthang Khongsai, president Youth club, Pastor, 65 beneficiaries and members of Youth Club.
During the programme, the villagers were sensitized on the biology and remedies to manage period problems.
Club president, Riddhi Puyam and vice president, Rajshree Laishram also spoke on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Girl Up Khonjel is a club based in Manipur under the Girl Up Campaign chain, an initiative by the United Nation Foundation, working towards the global movement of gender equality and women empowerment.
The pads were won through an online awareness raising campaign for sexual assault survivors launched by Freakins India in collaboration with Girl Up India.
Under 'Project Adhikaar', Girl Up Khonjel raised over Rs 13,000, making it possible to distribute 195 sustainable pads to 65 girls and women residents of B Phaicham village.
