MLA RK Into pitches for return of present govrnment

Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo has announced that he will be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections as nominee of a regional or national political party which will support the ruling government and ensure its return to power.
The MLA on Monday laid the foundation stone for an Urban Primary Health Centre, which is to be constructed at Sagolband Moirang Leirak Nepra Menjor Leikai at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
Later, a function for distribution of cooking gas was held at his residence.
Speaking at the event, MLA RK Imo informed that he is yet to finalise on the political party under whose flag and symbol he would be contesting the upcoming elections.
While stating that the decision will be made within short notice after consulting with the people of his constituency, he, however, iterated that the party, either regional or national, will likely be the one that will support and be in coalition with the ruling government.
The MLA further said that he will continue to help the government is spreading its roots, adding that it will help usher in more development in the state.
RK Imo then said that the constituency experienced huge difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic due to absence of government health centre.
Previously, the request for opening a health centre in the constituency was overlooked.
However, the incumbent CM took up the matter in the beginning of the ongoing yearand after the Health Department prevailed upon the centre, the approval for the same was given in July.
The construction will likely complete next year and then, the health centre would be handed over to the people, he added.
Stating that Sagolband AC is one of the better developed constituencies in the state, the MLA said that the women wing of Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) was set up to bridge the communication gap with the women voters in the constituency.
Thus, as part of helping the womenfolk of the constituency, around 100 cooking gases were distributed to select beneficiaries on Monday.
RK Imo further said that the women wing currently has around 8,300 voters as its members.
The members convene meeting every month to address the shortcomings of the constituency, apart from extending assistance to those in need and will continue to do so in the future.
