Kangpokpi, June 11 2026:
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking along National Highway-2, police arrested four persons, including two of their own and seized over 6 kilograms of WY tablets in Kangpokpi district.
The late-night operation at around 9.40 pm yesterday near Kangpokpi district headquarters was carried out following specific intelligence inputs regarding movement of narcotic substances along the Imphal-Dimapur highway, said sources.
The two cops arrested have been identified as Md Hafizuddin (42) and Md Zuma Khan (32) .

Md Hafizuddin is a Head Constable presently deployed at the T Khullen Check Post under the Special Operations Team (SOT).
He hails from Golapati.
Md Zuma Khan is a Constable currently posted at Maram police station and attached to Hengbung Outpost.
He hails from Kshetri Makha Leikai, Imphal East.
The two others arrested have been identified as Md Zamir Khan (45) and his wife Samim (36) of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
The four were travelling in two vehicles, one Winger passenger vehicle and a Nissan Magnite car, when they were intercepted by the police near a waterfall area, around two kilometres north of Kangpokpi police station.
During searches conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, police recovered and seized 6.1 Kg WY tablets.
Besides the contraband, the police also seized the two vehicles used in the transportation of the drugs and four mobile phones.
While the involvement of serving police personnel in the alleged narcotics network has raised serious concerns, police are expected to probe whether the accused officers were acting independently or are a part of a larger trafficking network operating across the State.
Kangpokpi police have registered a case under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigation is underway to identify the source, destination, and wider links of the seized consignment.
Officials said the seizure marks one of the significant anti-narcotics operations in the district this year, and reiterated that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in drug trafficking, irrespective of official position or rank.
